ice hockey

So, hockey. I don't really know what to say about it. It was pretty entertaining anyway, although I have to admit some confusion when the game stopped so that two players could have a fist fight, refereed by the referee (surprisingly enough). I'm  guessing there was a foul, but I have to say, I was just impressed they didn't fall over all the time, considering the speed they were whizzing about at.

and now it's snowing

Christmas is coming

Presents have been sent! I know it's only November, but now that these are all wrapped up, I'm suddenly very excited for Christmas. Next task: getting myself an Advent Calendar.

woo, I took some photos!

Here are some winter-y photos of Saint-Georges. Unfortunately they do not demonstrate the current coldness! But look how the river is frozen. Never seen the River Dee do that. That's not snow either, it's frozen water.

the cold is coming!

I know, I know, I'm terrible at updating this! I'm going to get back on the taking photo thing soon. The stream on the way to school has all frozen over, and this was taken before it even started to snow! It's not been above 0 for nearly two weeks now, rough times. Apparently "it's not that cold yet" though. Can't wait for February (!)

Sugar Shack

The entertainment on Thursday night is Quebec was a trip to a Sugar Shack - where maple syrup is made. We were fed some rather suspect "crisps" made from pig jowls... they weren't the nicest thing I've ever tasted. We also were given an ice lolly made by pouring maple syrup on snow...
I know, this pretty much went against everything I've ever been taught.

We were also treated to an accordion concert, and we able to join in with spoons that we were loaned by the Sugar Shack staff.

We then finally had to finish the night with our caberet... which was very fun. We made a sketch about the Beauce accent and how difficult it is to understand.

Winter shoes

No cold feet for me now! :)

ice skating

The first night of our meeting in Quebec City, Renaud took us ice-skating. It's been ages since I've been on the ice, and I have a new-found respect for anyone that can stay up during an entire hockey match. I can barely go in a straight line! Disaster. But fun all the same!
